Why People Join An MLM?

A lot of people will flee at the mention of an MLM opportunity. It’s not that they are scared of the MLM; they want to get away from anyone pushing it. They don’t want to be have to do with one of “those pyramids”. Makes sense to me. I don’t want to be involved in one of those pyramids either. For years I worked for a couple of massive international corporate giants. You couldn’t ask for bigger pyramids. Study any corporate organization chart – it’s a giant pyramid.

Well, I know what those folks really meant. They don’t want to be mixed up with a a company where people at the top make piles of money, and individuals at the bottom won’t make much of anything. Wait a minute. That sounds like those international corporate mammoths again. Oh, well. But just remember that people decide to join an MLM many times every day.

Join an MLM, Not A Pyramid Scheme

There is a distinction in a real MLM/Network Marketing company and a pyramid scheme. And no one should be caught up in a pyramid scheme. If a company is organized like an MLM, but has no product or service to sell, then it is the description of a pyramid scheme. And they are illegal. State and Federal regulators have begun to get a little more srtrict in recent years. If the product or service offered by the Network Marketing company is not something those outside the company would routinely buy, or it is so overpriced that it offers no true value to someone outside the company, then it can be regarded as an illegal pyramid scheme.

This doesn’t mean that there is no such thing as a legal, reliable MLM/Network Marketing company. Most MLM companies are genuine companies. It’s pretty easy to see how to distinguish them. These companies give the kind of opportunity entrepreneurs are in search of. But the person who is frequently hammering friends and family, or is coming up to just anyone on the street, or considers that a marketing plan is leaving a DVD on top of a gas pump, gives himself, his company, and the industry a bad name. There are better ways to market yourself and your opportunity, both online and off line.

Join An MLM For Residual Income

Real entrepreneurs will become a part of an MLM for a couple of reasons. They are wanting to find time freedom, and they are looking for residual income. Those are the two principal reasons to become a part of an MLM. Residual income means getting paid now and in the future for a transaction that took place in the past. And don’t believe that this is out of the ordinary or illegal. Your insurance agent makes a good living through residual income. If you make a sale today, and it is a product or service your customer will continue to use in the future, you get paid in the future without having to make the sale again. As a home business owner, this gives rise to time freedom for you because you don’t need to continually produce an income. Time freedom lets you get better at a hobby, or participate in volunteer work, or get re-acquainted with your family, or aid others to achieve the same thing you have acieved, or build an additional income stream from another source. It’s a wonderful} place to be.

The dilemma is that the majority of those who “join an MLM” approach it too casually. If you don’t realize you’re in a business – even if it is part time, you will most likely have problems. Don’t be scared to join an MLM. Just be sure to avoid a pyramid scheme scam. And become skilled at your business, your product, and your marketing. Disregard any of these three areas and you are almost guaranteeing yourself problems. Studying an MLM business and its products are things you learn from the MLM company itself. Marketing and prospecting are important keys to success you will almost certainly need outside help with.
